JULAU: SK Nanga Sengaih held its pioneer Highly Immersive Programme (HIP) at Rumah Sang in Nanga Sepisang, Entabai near here on Tuesday.

Headmaster Changgan Chuat said HIP’s main objective is to get parents involved in activities that encourage their children to learn the English language.

“That is in line with the Upholding Bahasa Malaysia Strengthening English Language (MBMMBI) initiative under the National Education Blueprint,” he said after the school contributed storybooks to Tuai Rumah Sang Unggat.

Under the programme, parents are encouraged to instil a passion for reading and learning in their children.

Changgan said he hoped the pioneer programme at Rumah Sang would be a success so that other longhouses could also benefit from it.
